Major street art festival coming to Rochdale

A Rochdale-born internationally renowned mural artist who has worked all over the globe is coming back to her hometown to paint one of the most iconic buildings in the town centre as part of the borough’s on going £400m regeneration programme. Hayley Garner and Joy Gilleard, otherwise known as the mural artist duo, Nomad Clan, have painted all over the world, from New York and Mexico to Poland, Iceland and Sweden, but Hayley reckons painting a mural in her hometown will be one of her best jobs yet.

Rochdale’s high street shortlisted for prestigious national award

Rochdale’s town centre has beaten off stiff competition to be shortlisted for the rising star award in the government’s Great British High Street Awards 2019. It is one of only 28 high streets across the country in the category, and the only one in Greater Manchester, which celebrates up and coming local communities who are transforming their future. The shortlisted bid highlighted all the work taking place in the town centre, which is in the middle of a £400m transformation programme.

Let’s get the party started – Rochdale ready for big festival

Rochdale Feel Good Festival will be tickling tastebuds and filling the town with live music and family fun this weekend. Last-minute preparations are under way for this year’s free event in Rochdale town centre on Saturday 10 August headlined by indie rock band The Coral.

First names announced for Rochdale’s literature festival

The first five names on the line-up for this year’s Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival have been revealed. The eight-day festival in October will feature bestselling feel-good fiction writer Milly Johnson, blogger, author and activist Erin Ekins, popular children’s authors Harry Heape and Hannah Lee, as well as award winning illustrator Olivia Lomenech Gill.

It’s a hole in one as Hollywood Bowl Group signs lease to bring Puttstars to Rochdale Riverside

Rochdale’s new leisure and retail complex, Rochdale Riverside, has scored another occupier, with Hollywood Bowl Group signing a deal to bring its new indoor mini golf concept, Puttstars, to the scheme. The deal will see the leisure brand open a 20,000 square foot unit in the development, which will feature three themed nine-hole courses. It will sit beneath a six-screen cinema, operated by Reel, with four restaurant units below. Together these make up the leisure block in Constantine Road and Baillie Street, next to the Regal Moon pub.
