The BID team have been busy scouring the streets of the town centre to seek out the very best festive window displays. The team have been impressed with the quality of displays throughout the town and it was no easy task to select the final shortlist.
One of Rochdale most well-known historic buildings is set to swap pounds for pints, as work gets under way to transform the former RBS bank into a Hogarth’s pub. New owners Amber Taverns, are investing £1m into the redevelopment of the grade II listed building. The brand, which specialises in town centre community pubs, has already started work on the building. As well as enhancing original features, like covings, the ornate ceiling and architraves, the team will make a special feature of unique spaces within the building, with plans to use the old vaults as private seating areas. They are also set to use the rear outdoor space to create a large outdoor drinking area.
The BID recently welcomed Browns Family jewellers to Rochdale Town Centre. As one of Yorkshire’s leading high street jewellers, the opening in Rochdale adds to Browns Jewellers’ well-established stores. First established in 1840, Browns Family Jewellers has built business on honesty, integrity and trust whilst maintaining traditional values.
Details of the council’s opening times and service changes over the Christmas and New Year holidays have been confirmed. A number of non-critical services will not be available from 4pm on Tuesday 24 December until Thursday 2 January, although emergency phonelines will be in operation throughout. Plans are in place to ensure roads are gritted and kept clear, should the wintry weather take a turn for the worse, and staff will be on standby in the event of an emergency.
