UPDATE ON EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON ROCHDALE TOWN CENTRE 18/11/2020

Rochdale BID want to keep you updated with the latest news, information and advice during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Further Business Grants

Rochdale Council has now released full details and launched the application process for further grants to support businesses affected by the local and national restrictions which have been implemented due to COVID-19. For the first time eligibility has been extended to include businesses without a ratable value but which still have fixed business costs to cover.

Funding for these grants has come from central government who have only just released full details of the criteria and how the schemes will operate. Rochdale Council has acted quickly to launch the schemes as soon as they have had sufficient details and aims to make prompt payment of all valid claims.

Three schemes are now available as follows:

  • National lockdown grants: there are 2 different grants for businesses who have had to close because of the 4-week national lockdown restrictions from Thursday, 5 November 2020 until Wednesday, 2 December 2020. The one you're eligible for depends on whether you have a specific rateable value or not.
  • Local Restrictions Support Grant (open for business): this grant is for leisure and hospitality businesses which remained open during tier 2 and tier 3 restrictions but were severely affected.
  • Tier 3 Localised Restrictions Support Grant: this grant is for businesses who had to close on Friday, 23 October 2020 when the borough went into tier 3 restrictions. The businesses eligible for this grant are:
  • Pubs and bars not serving substantial meals
  • Casinos
  • Bingo halls
  • Betting shops
  • Adult gaming centres
  • Soft play areas
