UPDATE ON EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON ROCHDALE TOWN CENTRE 07/12/2020

Business Grants – Reminder

Back in mid-November, Rochdale Council released full details and launched the application process for further grants to support businesses affected by the local and national restrictions which have been implemented due to COVID-19. For the first time eligibility was extended to include businesses without a rateable value but which still have fixed business costs to cover.

Details of the schemes currently available are noted below:

  • National Localised Restrictions Support Grant (Closed): The grant is for businesses who had to close because of the national restrictions for 4-weeks from Thursday, 5 November 2020 until Wednesday, 2 December 2020. They also have their own Business Rates bill. 

To apply all eligible businesses, have to complete and application form. 

  • Additional Restrictions Grant (National Lockdown): The Additional Restrictions Grant is available for certain businesses:
    • Who are forced to close because of the 4-week national lockdown restrictions, from Thursday, 5 November 2020 - Wednesday, 2 December 2020, and must not have their own specific rateable value;

Or

    • Who are suppliers to the hospitality and leisure sectors and have been severely impacted by the national lockdown.

To claim the Additional Restrictions Support Grant you must complete an application form.

  • Local Restrictions Support Grant (open for business) from 23 October 2020– 4 November 2020: this grant is for leisure and hospitality businesses which remained open during tier 2 and tier 3 restrictions but were severely affected.

To claim the Local Restrictions Support Grant (open for business) you must complete an application form.

  • Tier 3 Localised Restrictions Support Grant: this grant is for businesses who had to close on Friday, 23 October 2020 when the borough went into tier 3 restrictions. The businesses eligible for this grant are:
  • Pubs and bars not serving substantial meals
  • Casinos
  • Bingo halls
  • Betting shops
  • Adult gaming centres
  • Soft play areas

You do not need to claim for this grant.  The Council will send payments directly to eligible businesses.

  • Tier 3 Localised Restrictions Support Grant from 2 December 2020 onwards: this grant is for businesses who had to close on Friday, 23 October 2020 because of the 4 week national lockdown and had to remain closed from 2 December 2020 when the borough came out of the national lockdown and was placed into the revised tier 3 restrictions.

You do not need to claim for this grant.  The Council will send payments directly to eligible businesses.
