Lots of local organisations, clubs and societies were involved in the first ever Time Machine event, which gave people an opportunity to bring along their own photos, archives and artefacts, communities coming together to create bunting using scrapbooking techniques and watch rare local footage from the Pathe film archive in a mobile vintage cinema. The area that looked at the future of the town and the recent multi-million investment areas were a popular magnet for discussion.
Paul Ambrose from Rochdale BID said, ‘The Time Machine was a great event for Rochdale because we learnt from local people who add to our rich history. It was an opportunity for visitors to help shape the future of the town which has undergone incredible transformation, particularly the exciting plans for the town hall.’
