Glitz and catwalk glamour returned to town this weekend when Rochdale Wedding Show was staged on Sunday.  Hundreds of brides and grooms descended on Rochdale Town Hall with their friends and families for the annual event, looking for inspiration for their perfect day, and they weren’t disappointed!

It was the biggest show yet, with over 500 people through the doors and 45 local companies exhibiting the latest collections and trends in bridalwear, formal menswear and everything else needed for the big day.  The event featured two stunning catwalk shows as Marks and Spencer, Brides of Rochdale and Denis Hope modelled a range of bridal, occasion and menswear to enthralled crowds. Outside there was a jaw dropping collection of classic wedding cars.

Visitors also got the chance to see the Register Office, the ceremony room, take afternoon tea in the new Clock Tower Dining Room and admire the stunning town hall venue.  The Grade One Victorian Gothic building is renowned worldwide for its unique architecture and is a popular wedding venue, with its gardens being the perfect backdrop for wedding photos.

Local business experts provided a showcase of everything you would need for the big day, from stunning dresses and flowers, to classic cars, photography, catering, cakes, entertainment, jewellery, decorations and much more.

Councillor Janet Emsley, cabinet member for culture, health and wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council said: “The show looked absolutely beautiful, with over 500 people through the door it was also our record attendance and I was really pleased with the response to this year’s show and there was a fantastic atmosphere.   Exhibitors reported a good level of orders taken on the day, running into tens of thousands of pounds, so it has been another really good day for local businesses.”

A schedule of entertainment served to enhance the feel-good vibe of the event, with local pop songstress Gem O’Reilly singing live.
