Sweet success – glamour and glitz at Rochdale Wedding Show

Rochdale Wedding Show drew the crowds. Models pose in a limousine.

Catwalk glamour returned to town this weekend when Rochdale Wedding Show was staged on Sunday.  Hundreds of brides and grooms-to-be descended on Rochdale Town Hall with their friends and families for the annual event, looking for inspiration for their perfect day.

There were over 350 people through the doors and 35 local companies exhibiting the latest collections and trends in bridalwear, formal menswear and everything else needed for the big day.  The day featured two catwalk shows as Amelia Rose Bridal and Denis Hope modelled a range of bridal, occasion and menswear. Outside there was a jaw dropping collection of classic and contemporary wedding cars.

Visitors also got the chance to see the town’s Register Office, the ceremony room, enjoy prosecco and cake in the Clock Tower Dining Room and admire the stunning town hall venue.  The Grade One Victorian Gothic building is renowned worldwide for its unique architecture and is a hugely popular wedding venue, with its gardens looking great in the sunshine.

Local business experts provided a showcase of everything you would need for the big day, from stunning dresses and flowers, to classic cars, photography, catering, cakes, entertainment, jewellery, decorations and much more.

Councillor Janet Emsley, cabinet member for culture, health and wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council who attended the event said:

“The show looked absolutely beautiful, inside and out, and the weather was very kind to us.  With over 350 people through the door I was pleased with the response and there was a terrific atmosphere with lots of business being done.   Exhibitors reported a very good level of orders taken on the day and we had some superb new companies involved for the first time too, so it has been another really good day for local companies.”

A schedule of entertainment enhanced the party vibe, with local pop singer Gem O’Reilly, music from DJ David Lee and dancing by Gibbon Prima Dance.

Rochdale Wedding Show will return to the town hall in Spring 2018.
