Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run gets sponsorship boost

BOOST: Salford Harrier Joe Bailey (right) with Richard Pendlebury from Up and Running in Manchester, one of 3 new sponsors of Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run.

This summer’s Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run has been given a boost after unveiling another three sponsors for the new event taking place on Sunday 23 August.

Sports nutrition brand ‘My Protein’ will be providing t-shirts and isotonic drinks for participants, race numbers and prizes. The company, who recently sponsored Manchester Marathon are also regular supporters of national triathlon events.

Manchester and Huddersfield running retailer ‘Up and Running’ together with sports brand ‘Mizuno’ will have a presence at the event and be contributing to the prizes. They’ll also be providing advice to racegoers and selling clothing and footwear on the day.

The three join the main event partner - prestige motor retail centre Williams Rochdale BMW.

Councillor Janet Emsley Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council said:

“We are proud to welcome these new sponsors. It’s great to get support from businesses and we’re really pleased with the response from residents too.  It’s promising to be an incredible event. With a one mile and 10K as well as the half marathon there’s something for every ability.”

The 10K route leaves the Esplanade along Entwisle road, before heading towards Milnrow via Albert Royds Street. It then heads up Buckley Hill Lane, turning near its end before returning to the town hall.  The half marathon does the same route except the turning point is by Kingsway Business Park, and it’s a two lap course. The fun run is a flat mile, heading out along Entwisle Road and turning back just after Rochdale Leisure Centre.

The event is being staged by Rochdale Borough Council in partnership with Williams Rochdale BMW and race organiser Cannonball Events.

All three runs are available to enter online now at www.rochdale.gov.uk/events
