James' festival visit will be recipe for success

FOOD FEST: Chef James Holden will be showing just how easy it is to cook healthy and tasty food from scratch using fresh ingredients at Rochdale Feel Good Festival.

Top North West Chef James Holden completes the foodie line up at this year's Rochdale Feel Good Festival.  The award winning chef and member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts will be appearing in the Celebrity Kitchen on Friday 4 September.

James trained at Southport College, before beginning his career at London's world famous Savoy Hotel.  He quickly progressed through the industry, working in Michelin starred restaurants at home and abroad.

Since 2007 he's been a leading light in the 'Chefs Adopt a School' food education programme, delivered to over 40,000 children in over 800 schools. In 2012, his initiative to unite school pupils and local catering colleges saw him awarded the 'Best Regional Initiative' at the Springboard Annual Awards for Excellence.  He now works with school children across the region, encouraging healthier choices in food as well as promoting careers in the hospitality industry.

James will be joined at the festival by previously announced chefs Rachel Khoo, Kevin Woodford, Aazam Ahmad and Andrew Nutter.  Music acts on the line up already include The South, Toploader, Kirsty Almeida, ska band The Uplifters and new indie rock band Shakedown Stockholm.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, for its eighth year, promising another incredible showcase of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues a main stage sponsored by The Flying Horse Hotel and a second outdoor stage.  Celebrity chefs will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the event, which will also include the popular food market.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council together with sponsorship from local businesses including The Flying Horse Hotel, Rochdale Football Club, o2 Rochdale, Balfour Beatty Living, Link4Life and The Royal Toby.
