Fans get chance to thank football stars at Sunday celebration

 Fans planning to celebrate Rochdale football squad’s promotion to League One are being advised to gather along the Esplanade by the town hall this Sunday afternoon.

The team are expected to arrive by open top bus at 2pm, and approximately 15 minutes later they are due to appear on the town hall balcony alongside the Mayor to toast their success.

Fans are welcome to assemble along the Esplanade, which will be closed to traffic, where the bus will slow down to enable everyone to get the best and safest view.

The Mayor, Councillor Keith Swift said fans should gather by the town hall to ensure the team get the best possible welcome:

"I encourage as many people as possible to come and watch the team arrive at the town hall and show them our support. Their success means a lot to the borough. We’re already looking forward to next season in League One and we want this Sunday to be a celebration of their thoroughly deserved achievement.”
