The search is on for local bands, groups or solo artists to appear at this year Feel Good Festival.
Since the dates were announced last month for the annual celebration of entertainment, food and culture, local artists have been in touch with the festival organisers who are looking for five local acts. Four will get to play in one of the town’s indoor venues, whilst one lucky band will be selected to open the main stage against the backdrop of Rochdale Town Hall on the Saturday evening!
Musicians have just three more weeks to put their names forward – the deadline for applications is Friday 14 May, after which a panel of judges will make the final selection.
Anyone who is interested in appearing at the festival can upload a track to myspace.com and email the link to suzy@rochdaletcm.co.uk or phone 01706 926676. The only requirements are that solo artists must live in the borough, and groups need to have at least 50% of band members living in the borough.
Debbie O’Brien, Event Manager said: “There’s going to be a fabulous line up of entertainment at this year’s festival and our aim is to add some of our hottest local talent. For the first time one lucky band will get to open the main stage on the Saturday evening in front of a crowd of thousands. This is a brilliant chance for our local musicians. Once again Rochdale will be a hive of activity with the very best in live music and great food, plus a few surprises.”
The Rochdale Feel Good Festival, now in its third year, will include warm up events in both Middleton and Heywood, prior to the free main attractions in Rochdale town centre on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August.
A high profile line up of artists will be announced in May. The festival will include live music across indoor venues and a big outdoor stage. Celebrity chefs will be hosting live cooking demonstrations throughout the event which will also include a 2 day quality food market.
