St Georges Day celebrations

The Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Keith Swift is inviting everyone to celebrate St Georges Day on Friday 23 April. Rochdale Town Hall will be hosting a rousing evening of live music featuring Rochdale Youth Orchestra, Rochdale Music Service Concert Orchestra, plus local bands ‘Drifting Over the Miller’ and ‘That’s all Folk’. There will be plenty of opportunity to sing along and flags will be on sale.

The Mayor said it promises to be a fantastic evening:  “Let’s celebrate what is wonderful about our country and its history. I look forward to welcoming new faces and familiar ones to the beautiful Rochdale Town Hall.”

Tickets are £8 or £6 for concessions, which includes supper. They are available from Touchstones or the town hall reception. Alternatively phone 01706 924492.

All proceeds will be donated to the Mayors charities, which supports the Rochdale Music Service, Rochdale Youth Orchestra and the Back Door Music Project.

St. George is the patron saint of England. His emblem, a red cross on a white background, is the flag of England, and part of the British flag. The event in Rochdale will be one of many taking place throughout the country, including Trafalgar Square in London.
