The Rochdale Observer’s Shop Local campaign launched in September 2009, which is backed by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, is hoping to continue with the momentum it built up in the run upto Christmas by extending its reach through a brand new dedicated campaign website and its very own town centre radio station. 

In December 2009, the shop local website www.rochdaleshoplocal.co.uk had total hits of 49,733 increasing the campaigns awareness via the world wide web as well as through the many social media network sites.

Building upon that success, the campaign website has undergone a major overhaul and now you can not only find the very latest information on upcoming events but also retailer specific news from new arrivals to a announcements of a sale. The site is also interactive allowing potential customers to engage directly with retailers as well as sharing their own views on the town centre. A section for money saving vouchers is going to be popular but an added appeal of the website has to be the integration of Shop Local FM, a first for Rochdale, a web-based transmission playing a wide variety of music while also incorporating town centre only business information as well as the positive shop local message .
