Something funny about Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival

LAUGHS: Phoenix Nights Live star Steve Royle and northern observational comic Sam Harland will be amongst the names on stage for the Comedy Night.

It’ll be eyes up rather than eyes down at Mecca Bingo on Friday 4 September.   The venue on Smith Street in Rochdale is staging a comedy night next month as part of Rochdale Feel Good Festival.

All proceeds from the evening of stand-up are going to raise money to purchase a defibrillator for Rochdale town centre.

Mecca Bingo Manager Richard Attwood said it’s a perfect excuse to have an evening of top comedy and raise money for a very good cause:

“Currently there’s a defibrillator in Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre and Number One Riverside, but they can only be used when the buildings are open to the public so having an extra one in the town centre available 24 hours a day really could make the difference between someone surviving life threatening cardiac arrests until an ambulance arrives.  We have a truly fantastic line-up, it’s going to be a brilliant night”

The show which starts at 9:15pm is headlined by Phoenix Nights Live star Steve Royle, alongside the brilliant northern observational comedian Sam Harland and cabaret favourite Bill Wooland.

Tickets (£4) are available at www.rochdalefeelgoodfestival.co.uk or in person at Mecca Bingo, The Flying Horse Hotel, Shelly B’s Café, Java Coffee or Ladies Only Gym.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival is on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, promising another showcase of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues, and main stage sponsored by The Flying Horse Hotel. Music acts on the main stage line up include The South, Toploader, Kirsty Almeida, ska band The Uplifters, Shakedown Stockholm, The Renegade Girls, and Rochdale’s alternative rock band The Hotspur Press. Chefs in the Celebrity Kitchen include Rachel Allen, Kevin Woodford and Andrew Nutter.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council with sponsorship from local businesses including Hopwood Hall College, Key 103, The Flying Horse Hotel, Rochdale Football Club, O2 Rochdale, Balfour Beatty Living, Link4Life and The Royal Toby.
