Rochdale Council leader reacts to FA cup tie with Tottenham

The leader of Rochdale Borough Council has praised Rochdale Football Club's plucky performance, a day after the team drew with Tottenham Hotspur at the Crown Oil Arena during the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Council leader, Cllr Allen Brett, said: “What a pitch perfect result for the mighty Rochdale FC this weekend! I, along with thousands of others, was cheering them on yesterday, and it was clear that the atmosphere in the Crown Oil Arena was electric. It was a plucky, spirited performance from our boys and the whole town is proud of them. For a team like Rochdale to be playing at Wembley is a massive achievement and an opportunity I know they will grasp with both hands. There’s a huge sense of excitement in Rochdale and the whole borough is behind them as they gear up for their next meeting with Tottenham on Wednesday 28 February. Up the dale!”
