Soap star Kym to meet shoppers

Shoppers in Rochdale can meet Kym Marsh on Saturday (24 July). The popular actress and singer will be visiting the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre as part of the run up to this summers Feel Good Festival.

Kym originally shot to fame in the pop group ‘Hear’Say’ and earlier this year reached the semi finals of reality show ‘Popstar to Operastar.’ But she’s now best known to millions of soap fans as Michelle Connor in ITV1’s ‘Coronation Street.’

At around 1pm she will be in the Wheatsheaf Library meeting fans and children from Matthew Moss High School before officially launching the library’s new feature film dvd loan service.

After leaving the library at around 2pm she’ll be making a guest appearance at the ‘Feel Good Fashion Show’ also being staged in the shopping centre.

The show is the perfect chance to see what Rochdale’s stores have to offer in their summer and autumn ranges said organiser Martin Ballard, Manager of the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre: “The new season’s outfits will be modelled by staff from lots of great fashion stores, and its going to be a lot of fun. Come and get some inspired ideas for your new season’s wardrobe!”

Models from a variety of town centre fashion retailers will be striking a pose on the catwalk including 25 Ten Boutique, New Look, Solo, Chantilly, Denis Hope and Peacocks. Staff from TG Hughes will be demonstrating the latest make-ups and other cosmetics.

Kym Marsh, a former winner of the ‘Best dressed Soap Star’ award, knows a thing or two about fashion herself and she’ll be meeting fans and signing autographs during the show.

The build up to the fashion show starts at 1.30pm. There will also be canapés, giveaways and competitions for shoppers.

“The event is free and the stores are open until 5.30pm so there’s plenty of time to pick up a fabulous new outfit!” Added Martin.

A multi award winner, Kym Marsh’s other accolades include ‘Best TV Soap Personality’, and ‘Favourite Actress.’ Last year she was named ‘Celebrity Mum of the Year’ by Bounty.
