Rochdale’s very own Andrew Nutter will appear at the Rochdale Feel Good Festival in August. The multi award winning star chef will be appearing in the festivals celebrity kitchen, sponsored by ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August.
Andrews had a remarkable career since coming runner up in the National Junior Cook of the Year competition aged just 13. Seven years later he launched ‘Nutters’ restaurant, which soon expanded into the 18th century manor house it now occupies in Norden. A former winner of the coveted Lancashire Chef Of The Year Award, Andrew is now an increasingly familiar face on television, following appearances on shows like ‘Ready Steady Cook’, ‘Saturday Cooks’, ‘The Flying Chef’, a celebrity chef special of ‘The Weakest Link’ and his own Channel 5 series ‘Utter Nutter’.
His latest book ‘Nuts About Food’ reveals some of the secrets of his cooking, described by critics as food “with a touch of magic!”
Andrew says he’s delighted to be part of this years Feel Good Festival: “I’m really looking forward to it, and want to demonstrate a whole series of my favourite local dishes aimed at home cooks who aspire to cook like a professional!”
Wendy Meston, Acting Director of Public Health for NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, one of the sponsors of this year’s festival said events like this are really important: “Do you feel good? is a borough-wide healthy lifestyles programme which helps residents make changes to improve their health and wellbeing. This includes being more active, stopping smoking, having a healthy weight and eating a balanced diet. By mixing these health messages with fun and entertainment at the festival, we hope visitors will enjoy themselves and use some of some of our local services.”
Andrew Nutter will be appearing on Friday 13 August at 11am, and Saturday 14 August at 12pm. He’ll be joining a line up which also includes Italian chef, Gino D’Acampo and Indian food guru Aazam Ahmad.
After his cooking demonstration on the Saturday, Andrew will be signing copies of his latest book at Number Ten's, stall on the festivals market.
The Rochdale Feel Good Festival takes place in Rochdale town centre on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August. It will be headlined by The Lightning Seeds, with other confirmed acts including Kirsty Almedia, The Herbaliser, Ellen and the Escapades, The Travelling Band and Catherine Tyldesley.
In addition to the celebrity kitchen, the festival will include live music across seven indoor venues, an outdoor stage and a 2 day quality food market. Several warm up events will be held prior to the main festival, including a ‘Feel Good – Battle of the Bands’ competition at Coast in Rochdale on Saturday 10 July. On Saturday 3 July comedian Justin Moorhouse performs his new show live at the Flying Horse Hotel.
