Three more acts have just been added to the line up for the Rochdale Feel Good Festival.
‘The Travelling Band’ - one of the most popular bands from last years event will return to play the main stage plus a special warm up show on the Friday evening. Led by gifted song-writing, impeccable playing and harmonies, their blend of cosmic-country-pop, folk, and bar band rock has made them one of the most talked about artists to emerge from the Manchester music scene. The 6-piece group have built a strong following in their home city and across the UK.
They’ll be joined by ‘Ellen and the Escapades’, winners of the 2010 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition, who’ll be playing the main stage at Glastonbury this month before making their Rochdale debut. Their first EP is set for release this summer and their distinctive alt-folk sound is already attracting the attention of national radio. This year is looking like the best yet for the Leeds based group, who draw influences from acts such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne.
Singing sensation Catherine Tyldesley will be performing songs from the classics songbook at Touchstones on the Saturday afternoon. The 25 year old has captivated audiences across the country with her voice, described as ‘sumptuous and magical’. She’s also an accomplished actress, best known for playing the lead role in the BBC1 drama ‘Lilies’. The rapidly rising star will soon be on our screens again in the BBC1 medical drama ‘Holby City’. Prior to her festival appearance Catherine will be appearing at a special warm up show on 17 July at the Heywood Civic Centre.
This trio of acts will join previously announced festival headliners ‘The Lightning Seeds’, plus ‘The Herbaliser’ and pop singer Kirsty Almeida.
Event Organiser Debbie Obrien said this year’s line-up is looking like the best yet:
“The Travelling Band went down phenomenally well last year, and they jumped at the chance to come back. With more acts still to be announced, we already have a fabulous line up, with something for everyone. Whatever you’re into they’ll be something for you at the festival, and a chance to see something new.”
The Rochdale Feel Good Festival will be staged on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August.
In addition to a full programme of live music, the free festival will include a food tent and 2 day market. Celebrity chefs Gino D’Acampo and Aazam Ahmad will appear in the festivals celebrity kitchen, sponsored by Love Food Hate Waste.
