Award winning chef Aazam Ahmad will return to the Rochdale Feel Good Festival in August. The enigmatic BBC Fusion Chef will be appearing in the festivals celebrity kitchen, sponsored by ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August.
In addition to numerous television appearances on programmes such as ‘Grubs Up’, Indian food guru Aazam is a regular at some of the most prestigious food shows, including the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham and the Mela Festival in London.
His English and Asian cooking skills proved popular in Rochdale last year, and he visited local schools during the run up to the event to encourage local youngsters to try their hand at cooking.
Aazam, who has recently been working in China, said he can’t wait to return to Rochdale:
“I really am so pleased to have been invited back as I got such a warm welcome last time. There was a real buzz at the festival and I loved it, there were people of all ages and it was a lot of fun!”
The Rochdale Feel Good Festival now in its third year, will include warm up events in both Middleton and Heywood, prior to the free main attractions in Rochdale town centre on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August.
Paul Dunn, from the Greater Manchester District Council’s Love Food Hate Waste campaign, which encourages everyone to do practical things to reduce food waste, said they’re delighted to be sponsoring the celebrity kitchen:
“There are loads of practical everyday things in the home we can all do to waste less food, which will ultimately benefit our purses and the environment too. We’ll be demonstrating these to visitors and looking forward to some culinary delights from the chefs at this years Feel Good Festival.”
Before his appearance at the festival Aazam will be taking his culinary expertise to local schools and hosting a public cooking demonstration in Rochdale.
Aazam will be joined on the Saturday by the previously announced Italian chef, Gino D’Acampo. Another celebrity chef will be announced soon together with more music acts on a line up which already includes The Lightning Seeds, Kirsty Almedia, The Herbaliser and Catherine Tyldsley.
The festival will include live music across seven indoor venues, an outdoor stage and a 2 day quality food market.
